Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan Teach-in

​TYCC’s Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan Teach-in 101
Olympia Indivisible is proud to sponsor this youth-led teach-in by the Thurston Youth Climate Coalition (TYCC). Learn about the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan and what you can do to advocate for a sustainable future for Thurston County. We’ll cover the very basics of the TCMP so everyone can understand what local legislators are actually – or should be – working on. 

Youth in Action, TYCC
Thurston Youth Climate Coalition (TYCC) is a group of youth climate activists in Thurston County which was formed in the Spring of 2022 with a single goal: putting pressure on local governments to take urgent action on the climate crisis. Currently TYCC represents Capital, Olympia, Timberline, and Avanti schools, as well as South Puget Sound Community College. 


Hybrid Event: Zoom and In-person at Temple Beth Hatfiloh
Come to this hybrid event on Thursday, October 13 at 7:00 PM in-person at Temple Beth Hatfiloh or remotely, on Zoom. Registration is required for both the in-person and zoom events. Sign up on our registration page to attend.

When: Saturday, October 15th, 9:30am
What: Come canvas for pro-democracy candidates up and down the ballot. With Patty Murrray! Wear those sneakers!
Where: Meet up at the Mason County Democrats Office in Shelton (226 N 1st St, Shelton, WA 98584).

Help Marilyn Strickland Get Out the Mail!
Team Strickland needs your help sorting mail in Puyallup. These are campaign mail pieces that will be going out to voters in the 10th Congressional District. 

The mail sort dates are October 12th, 18th, 24th, & the 28th in Puyallup, Washington. You can join for multiple days or a single shift. The campaign will work with you on the schedule. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez for Congress

The time is now and the place is Lewis County. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is an outstanding Democratic candidate in this important race. Marie is outspoken in her advocacy for reproductive freedom. Her opponent, Joe Kent, wants a nationwide abortion ban. 

The Cook Report recently determined the district has changed from Solid Republican to Leans Republican. This means it’s possible to flip this district.  

We Can Support Marie Close By
In-person contact is the best way to reach voters and have the biggest impact. Canvassers will use the MiniVan phone app and be provided with a walking list, candidates brochure, and a script. Ask Our State Legislators to Support Affordable Housing Justice

The 2023 State Legislative Agenda is looming and Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King & Kittitas Counties has released its 2023 legislative agenda! 
​
We’re calling on the Washington legislature to accomplish the following three agendas, which are described more fully at the Habitat for Humanity link.
  • End the practice of exclusionary zoning.
  • Increase Black homeownership by removing obstacles.
  • Support permanently affordable homeownership.

Now, we need your help letting your lawmakers know that you want affordable housing and affordable homeownership high on their to-do lists this year!

Urge Rep. Strickland to Ban Organophosphates

Our food system exploits the earth and poisons the farmworkers who keep everyone fed — but it doesn’t have to be that way. One small step Congress could take would be to ban organophosphates, a class of neurotoxic chemicals that are widely used as pesticides.
