Quote of the Week:We evolved to greater heights as we grew bigger brains for sharing and empathy and love and complexity. We started communities, because with community, creation and love thrive. The “real” biggest fish is kindness. -- Chuck Tingle, Tumblr Legislative Actions:Legislative Session Ends March 7If you're new to Take Action Network (TAN):

Federal Actions:Support the Liquified Natural Gas PausePhoto Source: Canva Source: From our friends at The Climate Reality Project Last week, the House voted to pass legislation attacking the Biden Administration’s temporary freeze on approvals of pending new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities. And this likely won’t be the last time the administration’s decision will be challenged. Natural gas is destroying our climate and poisoning our communities. New research shows that transporting LNG can create significantly greater global warming pollution than burning coal. With the science clear that we have to halve global emissions this decade to stop rising temperatures, any new gas facilities are huge steps in the wrong direction. Action: Tell your Federal Senators and Congressional Representative that you support the Biden Administration's pause on pending new LNG export facilities. Copy the script below, and paste in the comment section in this contact form. Script: I'm writing today as your constituent to express my strong support for the Biden Administration's decision to pause pending approvals of new liquified natural gas (LNG) export facilities. At a time when the science tells us we have just six years to cut global emissions in half, the pause enables the Department of Energy to study the dangerous impacts of any new facilities on our climate and our health. This is the right call. Studies show that – contrary to industry claims – transporting LNG abroad generates significantly more planet-warming emissions than burning coal. We simply can't afford to rubberstamp new infrastructure guaranteed to accelerate climate change. In addition, approving new facilities that would not come online for years would do nothing to help our partners in Europe and elsewhere break free of their dependence on Russian gas. With many partners instead already turning to renewables, the only need to add yet more LNG serves is to boost industry profits at the expense of our planet. The American people get this. As your constituent, I'm calling on you to use your office to support the administration's pause on new LNG export facilities and work to speed a just transition to clean energy for the nation. Support Salmon & SteelheadAsk your representative to support the Columbia Basin Restoration Initiative (CBRI) agreement between the Federal Government, WA state, OR state and four treaty tribes (Nez Perce, Yakama, Umatilla & Warm Springs). Background: White House, Tribes Hail 'Historic' Deal to Restore Pacific NW Salmon Runs Action: Urge Support for Biden Administration's Restoration of Healthy & Abundant Salmon & Steelhead Tell Biden and the DOJ: Hear the Juliana 21Photo Source: Canva Let’s contact the Biden Administration and the Department of Justice to ensure the DOJ hears America’s youth-led climate case, Juliana v. United States. In nearly nine years, the DOJ has made twenty-two attempts to kill Juliana and silence the 21 Juliana youth plaintiffs. No other case in history has faced this kind of government persecution. NOW, the Juliana youth have to fight to be heard once more and it’s on all of us to rally around them. DOJ is pulling out extreme legal tactics by abusing “writ of mandamus” emergency government powers to obstruct the normal legal process and try to stop America’s youth from protecting all of our futures. Out of 40,000+ cases in front of the DOJ, these extreme legal tactics are only being used to single out one case: Juliana. If the DOJ succeeds, the Juliana youth won’t be heard in open court. If we succeed, the youth will go to trial and they will win—and force the United States, the BIGGEST contributor to climate change in the world, to make systemic change and phase out fossil fuels. Action: Tell the Biden Administration and the DOJ: We demand the Juliana 21 be heard at trial. _______________________ Vote in the Presidential Primary Your presidential primary ballot has arrived (it's sitting on your counter).
