Weekly Call To Action - July 24, 2022

7/24/2022

Quote of the Week:

“The nature of democracy, authentically, is not simply supporting from the bleachers and saying, “Gee, I hope you win the game.”It’s being on the field engaged in whatever large or small way possible…” –William Greider

Electoral Actions:

Sign up to be a Vote Counting Observer

Picture

Thurston County Primary Election
Republicans in Thurston County are mobilizing to observe ballot processing and counting, and there is concern that they will create and spread misinformation about the trustworthiness of the elections process and security in Thurston County.

It is therefore essential to also have pro-democracy citizens observing ballot processing and counting.

Pro-Democracy Ballot Observers
Primary ballot processing and counting observers are needed now.

  • Observation will be done at the Thurston County Elections Ballot Processing Center in two-hour shifts on weekday mornings this coming week (July 25-29) from 8:30-10:30am and 10:30am-12:30pm. Depending on the number of incoming ballots, your shift may end early or simply not be needed.
  • If you have never been a ballot observer, you will need to watch the Observer Training Video put together by the Thurston County Auditor’s Election Office. You can find additional excellent information at the Thurston County Auditor’s Observer Training and Information webpage.

How to sign up:
Observers are appointed by political parties. Non-affiliated observers are also welcome.

  • To sign up via the Thurston County Democrats, fill out their Observer Sign-up Form. If you have questions about signing up as a Democrat observer, contact TCD elections ballot observer coordinator Donna Patrick at donna.patrick62@gmail.com.
  • To sign up as a politically unaffiliated observer, call Thurston County Auditor’s Office, call 360-786-5408 or email elections@co.thurston.wa.us

Mason County Election
Mason County is also doing observer training. Here is information for our Mason County members.

Federal Action:

Ask Garland to Hold Trump Accountable

Picture

All January 6 conspirators need to be held accountable including the former president.

Background
Garland’s caution may have put the Justice Department in a quandary
“By starting at the bottom of the chain, the Justice Department failed to look for evidence in Trump’s inner circle regarding his connection to the violent phase of the insurrection.”

Action: Contact Attorney General Merrick Garland.
  • DOJ Webform On the form, under “Please choose the topic of your message”, choose “Messages to the Attorney General”

Script: I demand accountability for former president Trump and his close circle of accomplices, including current members of congress regardless of the election calendar.

All the January 6 conspirators need to be held accountable. The evidence of their guilt is overwhelming and if they escape punishment, more treason and violence will come to America.
