Email Senate Ways & Means to Support Rent Stabilization (HB 2114)
DEADLINE: Feb 26 • 11:00pm
The opposing landlords are gaining traction! Even if you've signed in Pro, please ALSO send an email in support of this bill to protect renters. The bill would require more notice of rent increases, limit increases to 7% per year, and cap fees. We need all hands on deck for this last push!


Support SB 5462 Inclusive learning standards (House: In Committee (Appropriations))
DEADLINE: Feb 26 • 11:00pm
Please contact your legislator in House Appropriations in support of inclusive learning standards in Washington Public schools. LGBTQ+ students’ academic achievement and mental health improve when LGBTQ+ people like themselves are part of a course curriculum.


Protect Pollinators and our food supplies by restricting neonicotinoid pesticide use. (House: In Committee (Appropriations))
DEADLINE: Feb 26 • 11:00pm
No bees = no harvests. Protect pollinators by eliminating neonicotinoid pesticides except for certain agricultural uses.


Support Transition to Zero-Emission School Buses (Senate: In Committee (Ways & Means))

We're almost there! Speed the move to zero-emission school buses!


Support Buy Clean, Buy Fair (Senate: In Committee (Ways & Means))
DEADLINE: Feb 26 • 11:00pm
This bill, known as “Buy Clean, Buy Fair'', establishes environmental and labor reporting requirements for the construction or renovation of large public buildings with an emphasis on optimizing the embodied carbon throughout the lifecycle of the structure.


Make Safer Tires for Salmon (House: On Rules Review List For 2nd Reading)
DEADLINE: Mar 1 • 5:00pm
Research has shown 6PPD, a chemical used in tires, is lethal to coho salmon in small concentrations. Research is ongoing and finding additional effects for some fish species including rainbow trout. Make addressing 6PPD a priority for WA Dept. of Ecology by supporting SB 5931.


Support Concerning physician assistant collaborative practice (Senate: Passed To Rules For 2nd Reading)
DEADLINE: Mar 1 • 5:00pm
Increases access to health care by increasing the number of providers, especially in typically underserved areas and demographics


Support Reducing the cost of inhalers and epinephrine autoinjectors (Senate: Passed To Rules For 2nd Reading)
DEADLINE: Mar 1 • 5:00pm
Support controlling the cost to patients of lifesaving inhalers and epinephrine autoinjectors.

Support SB 5241 "Keep Our Care Act" to create public oversight in hospital mergers and retain vital healthcare services.
DEADLINE: Feb 26 • 10:30am
Keep Our Care Act creates a system of public oversight ensuring that when hospitals merge, access to vital services for rural and low-income communities, people of color, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and terminally-ill patients remain intact. It will protect against price hikes for existing services.

Support HB 1541: Nothing About Us Without Us act (Senate: On Floor awaiting a vote)
DEADLINE: Mar 1 • 5:00pm
This bill passed the House in 2023 and is awaiting a vote by the Senate. It will require meaningful participation from underrepresented communities on any task force or workgroup whose work directly impacts them.

Stand Up for Gun Violence Prevention Bills

This coming week, legislators will debate and vote on lifesaving gun violence prevention bills. Alliance for Gun Responsibility is asking Olympia Indivisible members to join them in the Legislative gallery at the Capitol to make sure these bills cross the finish line.

You will be witnessing 4 crucial policies passing out of their opposite Chamber: 
  • HB 1903 (require reporting of lost and stolen firearms), 
  • HB 2021 (allowing WSP to destroy confiscated firearms), 
  • HB 2118 (firearm dealer responsibility), and 
  • SB 5444 (restricting firearms in sensitive places).

Alliance for Gun Responsibility organizers will be on site from 10am-4pm. If you are unable to stay for the entire time, that is ok. 

Here is the schedule: 
  • Wednesday Feb 28: 10am-4pm
  • Thursday Feb 29: 10am-4pm
  • Friday Mar 1: 10am-4pm

Action: If you can come to the Capitol to stand up in support of passing gun safety legislation on any of these dates, please send an email to [email protected] with the dates you are attending and she’ll follow up with details. Wear orange when you go!

Vote in the Presidential Primary

Your presidential primary ballot has arrived or will shortly. There is no part of the 2024 presidential election about which any of us can afford to be complacent or lackadaisical. So please, get that ballot out now and do the following today:

  1. Read the declarations on your return envelope.
  2. Mark your political party declaration on the return envelope.
  3. Sign and date the declarations.
  4. Mark your ballot.
  5. Put the ballot in the secrecy sleeve.
  6. Put the secrecy sleeve into your marked and signed return envelope.
  7. Mail your ballot or put it in a ballot drop box by March 12.

Ta Daaaaaa! You did it!

Write Letters to Voters with Vote Forward!

​This letter writing event is co-hosted by Olympia Indivisible GOTV Writing Team and The United Churches of Olympia Uprooting Racism Team. Our aim and the aim of Vote Forward is to increase civic participation among the members of historically underrepresented communities.

Writing letters to voters is a fun, easy, and highly effective way to strengthen our democracy by encouraging citizens from underrepresented communities to vote. We look forward to seeing you! 

Are you inspired to write letters on your own? Go to votefwd.org and sign up for an account, download twenty letters, and we’ll show you how to write them at our event! Consider hosting a party in your own neighborhood. Find out more at votefwd.org. Specific writing campaigns will be posted there soon.

Thurston Conservation District Board of Supervisors Election 2024

Timeline for the Thurston Conservation District Election
The Thurston Conservation District (TCD) has a governing board of five supervisors, of whom three are elected and two are appointed. The District 1 position is up for election. 

You must request a ballot from the Thurston Conservation District in order to vote in this election. 
  • You can request your ballot by mail and get more information on the election HERE.
  • Or Get your ballot in person March 13-15 and March 18-19 between 8am and 4:30pm from elections staff at the Thurston Conservation District offices (582 Tilley Ct SE, Suite 152, Tumwater, WA 98501).

Mail or drop off your ballot by March 19th (must be postmarked by this date)

OI members meet, make new friends, and take actions together. Every Cafe comes with a side order of live music and a heapin’ helpin’ of good cheer!

Cafe patrons receive an email on Sunday with a sneak-peek at what we'll do at the cafe the next day. On Monday morning, Chef Lisa will send you a pdf "Menu" which has links to the actions we'll take together at the Cafe.
