Quote of the Week“We should avoid living inside the Trumpian drama to the extent we can. The case of the People v. Donald J. Trump will take months or years to unfold. In the meantime, we have federal, state, and local elections to win . . . regardless of what happens in the (first) criminal trial of Donald Trump. Stay the course!” – Robert Hubbell, Today’s Edition Newsletter, Mar. 30, 2023 Legislative Actions:Action: Take the following actions and then click the green 'I took this action' button. If you live in Olympia or Tumwater, make sure to check out Olympia Indivisible’s RFA Proposal voter education webpage where we present arguments for and arguments against Proposition 1 from the ballot authors and opponents. Action: Sign Up for the "For Our Future" Textbank Stop Logging DNR Legacy ForestsOlympia Indivisible is joining the Center For Responsible Forestry in asking for a stop to logging of our legacy forests on public lands. A legacy forest is a naturally regenerated (i.e. non-plantation) mixed-species forest harvested before WWII with the potential to develop old growth characteristics. Legacy forests are reservoirs of both biodiversity and carbon. According to Department of Natural Resources (DNR) data it is estimated that there are only approximately 80,000 acres of unprotected legacy forests left on DNR land. That is less than 5% of all DNR managed lands in Western Washington. Action 1: Petition Governor Inslee and DNR Leaders Action 2: Ask WA State Senators to save our most carbon-dense forests!
