REI Coop Members, Stand Up for Union Employees
In January 2023, four months after REI Berkeley unionized, the company announced they would be taking away the store’s employee annual bonus earned for 2022. Employees came together in Berkeley to create a union because they want to work with the company to build a better REI. Instead of sharing that vision, REI has chosen to claim they cannot provide the Berkeley employees their bonus, even as all non-union employees have received theirs.
Action: Please tell REI to respect the Berkeley union workers and give them the bonuses they earned.
Ask Rep. Strickland to Support a Bill To Regulate the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Political Ads
In recent weeks we have seen examples of the use of AI in political ads. A notable one is the Republican National Committee's response to President Biden’s announcement that he would be running for re-election. This comically dystopian ad was made entirely by AI imagery. Such political ads are likely to become more common as AI technology proliferates.
Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY) has just introduced a bill that would require disclosure of AI-generated content in political ads. The bill, known as the REAL Political Ads Act (H.R. 3044), would amend federal campaign finance law to require that political ads include a statement disclosing any use of AI-generated imagery.
Congresswoman Clarke’s bill is brand new and so far does not have any co-sponsors.
Action: Tell Rep. Strickland to co-sponsor H.R.3044.
Option A: Take this action with one click in Take Action Network (TAN) Ask Rep. Strickland to support a bill to regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in political ads
Option B: Contact Representative Strickland
Script: My name is ______________, a constituent from Olympia. I am writing/calling to ask you to sign on to co-sponsor H.R. 3044, the REAL Political Ads Act, recently introduced by Representative Yvette Clarke. This bill seeks to amend federal campaign finance law to require that political ads include a statement disclosing any use of AI-generated imagery. As we have seen recently from the RNC, it is increasingly easy for campaigns to produce deceptive ads, with no requirement for disclosure about their use of AI. I am concerned about the impact of such ads on voters, particularly with the 2024 election just around the corner.
Please support Representative Clarke and co-sponsor H.R. 3044.
CNN Must Not Repeat Their Trump Infomercial
The former President steamrolled host Kaitlan Collins with a nonstop torrent of lies. He made a mockery of the event, and of CNN for hosting him, by unleashing one complete falsehood after another and calling Collins "nasty." But the most repugnant part was the reprehensible way he spoke about E. Jean Carroll merely one day after a jury found him liable for sexually abusing and defaming her. It never should have happened.
CNN and the media outlets watching their example must be forced to learn from this disaster and stop giving Trump free air time.

Script: As a regular CNN viewer, I am appalled by the decision to host a live town hall with Donald Trump in New Hampshire. Trump is a disgraced coup leader and serial liar who is one of several candidates for the GOP nomination. Choosing to give him an exclusive platform to tell lies in real time is a bad business decision. Retaining journalistic integrity and keeping the trust of your regular viewers is more important than the brief bump in ratings you are looking for. Shame on you!
Defeat the MAGA Default on America
Join Indivisibles from across the country on Wednesday, May 17, at 10am Pacific Time for a national phonebank with Indivisible Action.
We will be calling into 18 key districts where Republican members of Congress (also known as the “Unrepresentatives”) will play a crucial role in determining whether the United States defaults on its obligations for the first time ever. We’ll be connecting constituents directly with their MoC’s office so they can ask their Representative to protect our essential services and reject Kevin McCarthy’s dangerous efforts to slash Medicaid and education funding for millions of Americans. We're holding the GOP accountable for trying to slash funding for Medicaid and public education.
Action: Sign up for national phonebank (10am Pacific Time, Wednesday, May 17) to contact voters in vulnerable Republicans' districts and connect them with their MAGA Member of Congress.
