Quote of the Week: “On October 18, we’re taking to the streets again—in towns and cities nationwide—to show that our collective voice is stronger than any single person's agenda. We'll send an undeniable message to those in power and to all who seek hope: No thrones. No crowns. No kings.” Indivisible National, What’s the Plan? Cryptocurrency assets are mostly unregulated, with little oversight by the SEC. The Clarity Act 2025 (H.R. 3633), which falsely purports to strengthen digital assets regulation, was passed in the House on July 17th with 78 Democrats voting in favor. It’s now in the Senate. Senator Warren and others are fiercely opposed to the bill because it in fact diminishes investor accountability and favors crypto industry interests over public interests. Trump now wants to cram dangerous cryptocurrency funds into our 401(k) retirement funds. He signed an Executive Order on August 7 directing the SEC to deregulate the current requirement that employers use only safe assets to build up 401(k) funds. His Executive Order specifically allows employers to use less safe assets. Trump promises to make the US the crypto capital of the world. Action 1: Call or write to our Senators using the script below (modified based on Indivisible’s script):
Script: Democrats should not be supporting any Crypto bills that wouldn’t do anything to protect us financially. The Clarity Act destabilizes our financial system and furthers Trump’s corrupt agenda. Action 2: Indivisible has put out a Call Now request: “to call your Democratic Senators now and tell them to vote no on the Clarity Act.” If you wish, you can follow the form and call directly through Indivisible using the national Script: Script is at: Join Tribal Leaders Campaigning Against Trump’s Roadless Area Rule RepealPhoto by Billy Freeman on Unsplash Background: The Roadless Rule Explained: How the Last Unbroken Forests Could Be Lost Forever Lummi organization Se’Si’Le and Lummi Nation’s House of Tears Carvers are launching a two-week campaign across the Pacific Northwest against the Trump administration’s plan to repeal the Roadless Area Conservation Rule, a policy that has protected much of our national forests for decades. Tribal leaders say the Roadless Rule and other safeguards have preserved approximately two million acres of wild forests in Oregon and Washington, drinking water for more than 60 million Americans, and habitat for threatened and endangered plants and animals. Removing the rule would threaten nearly 45 million acres of inventoried roadless areas in our national forests, including the Tongass National Forest – our largest old-growth forest. The campaign, called “Xaalh and the Way of the Masks,” will stage a rally in Olympia on Monday, September 8, 4-5:30pm. Eight other events will follow on a 1,700-mile journey through tribal lands, houses of worship, colleges, and public gathering places. Action 1 (deadline September 19): Leave a comment on the USDA website. Edit the script below as you like. Script: I oppose rescinding the Roadless Area Rule. Since its issuance by President George W. Bush in 2001, it has protected millions of acres of irreplaceable old-growth forests that provide clean water for tens of millions of Americans and habitat for thousands of threatened or endangered species. We should preserve our wild forests for our grandchildren, not destroy them for the profit of big logging and mining companies. Action 2: Contact your Members of Congress, using the same script.
Action 3: Attend the rally on the Capitol steps, Monday, September 8, 4-5:30pm. Indivisible National Actions:Sign up: Immigration Support Training SessionsThe WAISN/Thurston Rapid Response Team is offering a two-hour training on Sept. 10 (and again on Oct. 2) from 6:30-8:30pm to build skills and confidence in approaching businesses, restaurants, community orgs., farms, etc. to share strategies of ICE resistance with managers and front-facing staff with the goal of increasing protection of workers and customers/clients, neighbors. WAISN/Thurston Outreach and Immigrant Accompaniment is the host of these events and is coordinating a variety of initiatives related to Indivisible National's Signs of Solidarity campaign. Participants will learn about employer-specific rights for trying to safeguard “private” space where ICE does not have permission to enter without signed and dated judicial warrants. They will share materials from the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN) and do some role plays to get more comfortable with visiting different kinds of businesses. Ideally, participants would have already attended a Know Your Rights (KYR) training but, if not, register anyway and be sure to attend a KYR training before hitting the streets for outreach. During the Outreach campaign, which is already underway, you will share Know Your Rights info, Deportation Defense Hotline stickers, bilingual handouts for our immigrant accompaniment support to the courts, and fliers the businesses can post to designate private space that ICE does not have permission to enter. Action: Register HERE to take one of these trainings. Thank the Epstein Survivors for their Exceptional Courage Background:
On Wednesday, September 3, on Capitol Hill, several women, coming together to have their voices heard, shared their stories of being victimized by Jeffrey Epstein, pleading with lawmakers to support the release of records from the Department of Justice. Anouska De Georgiou, the first survivor to step to the podium, stated “The days of sweeping this under the rug are over. We the survivors say ‘no more. I’m no longer weak, I am no longer powerless and I’m no longer alone.’” Action: Send your note of thanks for the unbelievable courage that these women displayed on Capitol Hill. They can be reached through their attorney, Bradley Edwards at [email protected]. Script: Use your own heartfelt words to thank these beautiful women. Comments are closed.
