Action: Volunteer! Help pro-democracy candidates for our city councils, school boards, and Port win by showing up for boots-on-the-ground events this week. Defend Our First Amendment Rights

From Indivisible National

Background: Disney/ABC, Nexstar, and Sinclair just pulled late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel off the air after threat from Trump’s FCC chair

How we’ll fight back
We need to pressure ABC/Disney to reinstate Kimmel’s program, cease their political collusion with Trump and his FCC lapdogs, and commit to defending free speech.

That means fighting back with our voices and our wallets -- because no wannabe king can match the power we wield when millions of us take action together. Here are some things you can do right now:

  • Cancel your Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ subscriptions until Jimmy Kimmel Live! is reinstated. Then, use the customizable sample posts in our social toolkit (or create your own!) to let Disney and your network know with the hashtag #BoycottDisneyABC.
  • Use this contact form to send a message to ABC/Disney that we won’t stand for cowardice and corruption. If you’re canceling Disney services, postponing a vacation to a Disney theme park, or taking some other action in response to their corporate cravenness, let them know.
  • Email your representative to demand an investigation into government censorship. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr’s threats may violate the First Amendment and other federal law, but an attempt to subpoena Carr is being blocked. Let’s turn the heat up to demand that Carr, ABC/Disney execs, and their partners be hauled before Congress to testify under oath.
  • Protest in person. We’ve already heard of dozens of locally led events popping up outside ABC/Disney offices and studios across the country. Get out to one if you can, and make a plan to join us on No Kings Day, as well.

Note: If you have technical problems trying to cancel your subscription: Try clearing cookies, switching browsers, or using Disney’s live chat for confirmation if the cancellation flow freezes. Always keep screenshots of your request and watch billing cycles to confirm the change processed.

Want to Impact the Mid-Term Elections?

Whatever happens with redistricting, we can’t give up on the 2026 mid-terms as a mission-critical chance to disrupt the Trump trifecta in Washington DC.

Fortunately, there’s an app for that! The Battleground States Matrix can help identify the most crucial, competitive-but-winnable contests for (re)building progressive majorities at both the state and Congressional levels over the next 13 months. If we focus on these races, our Get Out the Vote (GOTV) work can have the greatest possible impact.

In the September 29, 6:30pm webinar, WIN Elections Team members James Rickard and Kevin Jones will discuss how the Matrix works, how its races are selected, and the resources you can use to help our preferred candidates WIN!  If you missed their presentation at July 12-13’s WIN Blue State Defiance Convening in Tacoma, here’s a second chance.

Action:
  1. Mark your calendar for 6:30-8 p.m., Monday, September 29
  2. Register now for the webinar by clicking here.  You will receive a confirmation email with additional details.

Stop Trump’s Ongoing Weaponizing of the Justice System

Background:
  • Gov. Bob Ferguson discusses AG Pam Bondi's demand to end sanctuary policies : NPR
  • 4 things to know about cashless bail after Trump’s executive orders | PBS News

Trump is spewing out new ideas and orders to shrink Americans’ individual legal rights:

  • Domestic violence: Such as announcing it shouldn’t be counted as a crime for men to have fights with their wives in the home.

  • Bail restrictions: Prohibiting jurisdictions from having cashless bail programs that safely correct discrimination against those below the poverty line.

  • Death penalty: Rolling back the federal death penalty moratorium that’s been in place since 2021 by stepping up federal executions.

In August, Pam Bondi sent a letter to Governor Ferguson threatening him with criminal prosecution for upholding Washington’s law prohibiting law enforcement to assist immigration enforcement. Governor Ferguson’s response was that under state law, it’s not Washington’s job to carry out immigration enforcement, and Washington will not be bullied.

Action 1: Thank Governor Ferguson for his strong defense of our state laws.
Governor Bob Ferguson, phone 360-902-4111, or contact here
Send Gov. Ferguson an e-message

Suggested Script:
My name is _____ and my zip code is _____. Thank you for standing up to Pam Bondi’s baseless threat of criminal prosecution for your protection of Washington’s laws and policies. Your strong leadership is noticed and appreciated.

Action 2: Consider donating to the ACLU, which is vigorously litigating against Trump’s legal rights rollback nationally.
