Quote of the Week:“Pacing and self-kindness will be integral elements of how we meet the moment in the months to come. We can start down that path this week.”--Lisa Ornstein, Olympia Indivisible Co-founder Take a Breather, Good People This week’s Call to Action is an invitation to practice self-care and stay connected in community. Act on this and you’ll have done your part for democracy this week.
For the past 11 months, you and other OI members by the hundreds have poured yourselves into electoral work to support pro-democracy causes and candidates in Washington state and across the country. We contributed significantly to multiple victories here and we gave our all to elect a pro-democracy president and Congress. In the wake of the presidential election, we ask you to make space for your feelings in full knowledge that Olympia Indivisible is here to stay and provide community, clarity, and a path forward. We are solidly united, with the largest membership we have ever known (746 at last count). We have turbo-charged our capacity to create teams that collaborate creatively and effectively. We know how to get work done and respond swiftly while building fellowship and resilience. Some 65 of you registered to be part of our Meet the Moment Together Zoom on Sunday, Nov. 10, which will have taken place by the time most of you read this. We know that staying in community –being together, being there for each other –is essential in this moment. We plan to hold an in-person gathering to do just that within the next few weeks and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we set the venue and date. By then we’ll know more about how we can be part of a national response to defend ourselves and our nation. We can and will do this together. Meanwhile, please take this week to do good things for yourself and build resilience with people you cherish. That in itself is an act of resistance against those who count on millions of us giving up. Let’s prove them wrong. Comments are closed.
