Weekly Call To Action - June 20, 2021

6/20/2021

Take Three Actions Now!

Help Get the “For The People Act” Passed
Join the Statewide Call to Our Senators

Picture

Help get the For the People Act passed by participating in a statewide Indivisible Call-a-Palooza to Senators Cantwell and Murray.
Our goal is to start strong on Monday and build up to a constantly ringing phone line in Senator Murray and Senator Cantwell's office by Thursday and Friday.

Our Senators need to know that the entire state is demanding they do everything in their power to ensure S1 gets passed in time to make a difference in the 2021 and 2022 elections. It's not enough to support the For the People Act: we need them to be fiercely, publicly advocating for eliminating anything that is keeping the bill from being passed.

Here's how it works: You are signing up to make 2 telephone calls within your 30 minute time window (one each to Senator Murray & Senator Cantwell's Washington D.C. office.) Your total time commitment will be 5-10 minutes each day.

We will send you everything you need by email the night before your calls, and by text message on the day of your calls. (That's why we ask for a cell phone number.) If you sign up for more than one day, look for an email and text message from us for each of those days.

Action 1: Sign up to join and get detailed information for this Call-a-Palooza and make those calls!

Bring Daylight to the Misdeeds of Trump’s Department of Justice!

Picture

Every week more details emerge of the Trump White House’s corruption and illegal interference, much of which was directed at the Department of Justice.

As Attorney General, Merrick Garland is responsible for enforcing the laws of our nation and for protecting the integrity of the DOJ.  His tepid response to date to the evidence of numerous illegal and unethical actions by the Trump administration will not suffice. A full accounting of Trump’s misdeeds is crucial to protecting democracy and the DOJ continues to drag its feet in being transparent about the ways Trump’s White House misused the Justice system.

References:

  • Merrick Garland seems to operate as though the last four years didn’t happen.
  • How Democrats are hoping to unmask the latest Trump-DOJ scandal.

Action 3:   Call our Senators.

Contact WA Senators
  • Senator Patty Murray, Phone: 253-572-3636 or Contact Form
  • Senator Maria Cantwell, Phone: 253-572-2281 or Contact Form
    • Email both your MOCs at once using Democracy.io.

Script: My name is _________ and I am from Olympia Indivisible. I am urging you to ask Attorney General Garland to make public additional information about Trump’s infamies, such as using the DOJ to obtain private records of his opponents by issuing secret subpoenas for phone records and other personal information.   Also, please suggest that AG Garland appoint a special prosecutor to file charges against individuals who broke the law in the Trump administration or at the DOJ .

Affordable, Accessible Housing Is Vital to Our Community

Picture

From Day 1, Representative Strickland has prioritized addressing the housing needs of our community. This is why I worked with Rep. Peters to introduce the bipartisan Build More Housing Near Transit Act, to help tackle America’s housing crisis and boost public transit use. The bill passed out of committee on Thursday and is now one step closer to getting across the finish line.

Join the Town Hall for more updates, and an important discussion about critical issues affecting Washington's 10th District.

The South Sound is one of the fastest growing places in the United States. That means affordable, accessible housing is vital. Marilyn Strickland is holding a Town Hall to give updates on her work on housing policy, discuss issues critical to the South Sound, and hear from you. Feel free to submit a housing question to Representative Strickland.

Action:  Register here for this Town Hall on Thursday, June 24th at 6:30 PM PT.
