Quote of the Week:
“The willingness to show up changes us, It makes us a little braver each time.” – Brené Brown
Take Two Actions Now:
Save Our Schools
Do not watch in disbelief while the GOP destroys our public schools. Act now to get ahead of their dirty tricks.
Across the country, we are watching our public schools, the bedrock of our democracy, come under an orchestrated, manufactured culture war by the far right with false information about "Critical Race Theory." What we have seen so far is just the tip of the iceberg and will intensify as we approach election season.
The GOP and Fox news have every intention of using their dirty bag of tricks to create false issues to outrage their base. Now is the time to get ahead of false information, not after the fact.
Action 1: Contact your local school board and urge them to take this threat seriously. Email the School Board President of your school district.
My name is _______and I live in the __________School District. I am writing to tell you, like most of your constituents, I support the current education programs and urge you to not be swayed by the radical demands of a threatening minority.
While these voices are loud, they are a small minority. I urge the district not to succumb to the volume of these voices, but continue to respect the professionalism of our educators and administrators in advancing a liberal arts education that includes all students.
Our schools have a rigorous, professional process for adopting curriculum and designing instruction. Schools in our community have been continually striving to teach students to be fair minded, thoughtful citizens and we support that. Thank you for protecting our public schools. Our students get only one chance at a quality education. Your work is crucial.
White House Documents Belong to the People
White House documents belong to the people. As the people, we want the Department of Justice to investigate the numerous violations of the Presidential Records Act. The fifteen boxes, including classified material, taken to Mar De Largo are just the latest example of numerous abuses.
Action 2: Email the Dept. of Justice
Script: As a taxpayer and a citizen, I am asking AG Garland to open a sweeping investigation into the Trump Administration’s violations of the Presidential Records Act. These documented violations have been referred to the Department of Justice (DOJ) by the National Archives.
If this egregious disregard for the public’s right to know goes unpunished then our democracy is not sustainable. We ask that the DOJ prioritize this investigation, commit to bringing it to a timely end and make the results public as soon as they are known.
