Quote of the Week:“Trump's willingness to abide by court rulings will be informed by the degree to which his lawlessness provokes mass demonstrations, work stoppages, boycotts, tax strikes, and civil disobedience. If Trump believes he can ignore court orders without provoking those reactions by the people, he is more likely to ignore the authority of the courts. In other words, we are the backstop for the courts (a baseball reference), and also the reinforcements, the calvary, and the source of the “consent of the governed.” If we threaten to withdraw that consent, the courts have greater leverage over Trump, and he is more likely to abide by their rulings.” –Robert Hubbell, Today’s Edition Newsletter, February 12, 2024 Legislative Actions:The Key to Statewide Activism is Using TAN!If you're new to Take Action Network (TAN):

Federal Actions:We Need Leaders Who Can Lead: House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries Source: Jeffries Congressional Website From Our Friends at Chop Wood, Carry Water Earlier this week House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries gave, according to Ezra Levin of Indivisible, one of “the most embarrassing press conferences in recent memory.” It was weak, ineffective, and low energy. He is absolutely not meeting the moment. Axios has also reported—although some are skeptical that it’s true—that Jeffries secretly complained about Indivisible and Move On members’ calls. Action: Ezra Levin has crafted a letter to Jeffries asking him to do better, and we can sign it. You can do so quickly and easily—after reading it, of course—here. Ideally you’ll personalize it, as that always makes it more effective. We Need Leaders Who Can Lead: House Representative Marilyn StricklandOn Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11am, we invite you to join OI Steering Committee, Members of Congress Team, and Olympia Indivisible members at the Lacey office of Representative Marilyn Strickland to sound the alarm about the unfolding unconstitutional and illegal dismantling of foundational federal agencies and programs, and to hand-deliver to her staff a letter urging her to respond to this unprecedented crisis with bold leadership and consistent, outspoken opposition. Grey Indivisible has asked to be added as a signatory to that letter and some of their members may join us at this rally. WHAT: Rally and delivery of a Call-to-Action letter to Rep. Marilyn Strickland WHERE: Rep. Strickland's Lacey Office (420 College St SE Suite 3000, Lacey, WA 98503) WHEN: Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11am WHAT TO BRING: Yourself, bring a sign if you wish. Request a Ballot for Thurston Conservation District Election by March 11Source: Thurston Conservation District website Olympia Indivisible supports the Thurston Conservation District. The mission of Thurston Conservation District is to educate and assist the citizens of Thurston County in the management of natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations, inspiring voluntary, incentive-based conservation practices. There is a five member Board of Supervisors. Three of the five Supervisors are elected by registered Thurston County voters, and two are appointed by the Washington State Conservation Commission. All elected positions are important in this era. This year, Position 2, held by T.J. Johnson is up for election. We believe Mr. Johnson has been doing a great job and we want to continue to support him by voting for him. Unlike most local elections, to vote for the TCD supervisor, you must request a ballot. Please note, you cannot request, pick-up, or return a ballot for this election with the Thurston County Auditor’s Offices. Registered voters who live within the Conservation District boundaries are eligible to vote. How to Vote Request your ballot
