Now’s the time to support our candidates! Go to our OI Campaign Support Calendar. Pick. One.Thing. And do it!

The next two weeks include:
  • New post card/letter writing event
  • Knock on Doors for Jessica, Lisa, and Rachel
  • Doorbelling and phone banking for Kim Schrier CD8
  • We have free yard signs for several OI-endorsed candidates

You can party, you can make signs, you can write postcards!

The important thing is that you DO SOMETHING! So let’s do it!

Federal Actions:

Protect Snake and Columbia River Salmon

In December 2023, the four lower Columbia River Treaty Tribes, the states of Washington and Oregon, nonprofit plaintiffs, and the Biden administration reached a historic agreement to pause litigation over dam operations on the lower Snake and Columbia Rivers and begin implementing a set of federal commitments to restore salmon and other native fish populations and begin to honor Tribal treaty and trust obligations.

A critical component of this agreement is a $300 million commitment over 10 years from the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), a federal agency that markets the power generated by dams in the Columbia River Basin, for fish restoration projects. BPA agreed to these critical investments – which will help restore salmon and therefore imperiled Southern Resident orca – as a party to the Resilient Columbia Basin Agreement.

Unfortunately, the House of Representatives is advancing legislation that contains a poison pill rider that could drastically limit BPA funding for salmon restoration efforts. If enacted, it would sabotage the important commitments the United States made just months ago to honor Tribal treaty rights and restore native salmon species in the Columbia Basin.

Action: Ask our Members of Congress to oppose this poison pill rider and any similar language that could undermine efforts to restore endangered species and honor Tribal treaty rights by limiting BPA funding for salmon restoration projects.

Support the Impeachment of Alito and Thomas

Background
  • Ocasio-Cortez Introduces Articles of Impeachment Against Justice Thomas and Justice Alito

The unchecked corruption crisis on the Supreme Court has now spiraled into a Constitutional crisis threatening American democracy writ large. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito’s pattern of refusal to recuse from consequential matters before the court in which they hold widely documented financial and personal entanglements constitutes a grave threat to American rule of law, the integrity of our democracy, and one of the clearest cases for which the tool of impeachment was designed.

Ask your Representative, Marily Strickland, to co-sponsor H.Res.1353 - impeach Justice Thomas and H.Res.1354 - impeach Justice Alito that were introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC).

Action: Support the Impeachment of Thomas and Alito

WA State Actions:

Teach-in on Messaging about the Toxic Ballot Initiatives with Defend Washington’s Calvin Jones

The words Defend Washington inside an outline of the state
Check out this July 20, 2024 video/podcast hosted by Washington Indivisible Podcast’s own Stephan Cox with Calvin Jones, the newly hired Outreach Director for Defend Washington. Defend Washington is the umbrella campaign to defeat all four Let’s Go Washington initiatives (2109, 2117, 2124, and 2066). These ballot initiatives look to roll back many of the important gains made by our state legislature on things like the climate, healthcare, and equitable taxation.

Action 1: Listen to this podcast, which will give you talking points you can use when you’re out connecting with friends and neighbors.
