Take Two Actions Now:
What Part of “End the Filibuster” Do You Not Understand?
The clock is ticking. The only way to stop 10 years of unfair elections is if the Senate Democrats and President Biden change the filibuster. Every call gets tallied and keeps up the pressure.
Action 1: Call your Senators
Script: Hello. My name ______________. I am a member of Olympia Indivisible and my zip code is __________. All over the nation, voting rights are being rolled back by Republican-led legislatures and the worst is yet to come. The only hope for saving democracy and the loss of Democratic control of Congress is swift passage of the For the People Act. The only way to do this is to end the filibuster.
While I appreciate the Senator supporting a carve out or to require a talking filibuster in order to move forward S.1, she should be using this recess to champion getting the filibuster out of the way. To that end, I request that a staff member return my call and provide one example of a piece of major legislation in which the Democrats have successfully used the filibuster over the last 40 years.
Ask Thurston County to Expand Scattered Site Management for the Houseless!
In April 2021, the Thurston County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a “scattered-site management” plan that will provide support to three homeless encampments in Olympia for the next year. The goal is two-fold: connect the unhoused people to services, and soothe the anxieties of neighboring landowners and others who are unhappy with the state of the camps.
Please thank the Commissioners for this innovative program and encourage them to expand it to support additional camps in the region.
Action 2: Email the Thurston County Board of Commissioners

Subject: Scattered Site Management Plan
Script: Dear Thurston Commissioners,
I’m writing to thank you for the innovative Scattered Site Management Plan you approved and to ask you to expand it to support additional camps in the region.
It's a huge thing that you are funding and facilitating a harm reduction/ public health/ self-governance program of this scale and I hope it grows to the degree needed for safe camping until safe indoor housing is truly treated as a human right.
