Protect Our Watershed
Green Cove Park Project is a 181-unit single-family subdivision that developer Jerry Mahan would like to develop in the 2200 block of Cooper Point Road Northwest. The developer has hired Ms. Heather Burgess, attorney for the Port of Olympia, President of the Economic Development Council, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Olympia Master Builders, to represent him at a meeting he requested with the City of Olympia. The meeting is scheduled to take place October 31.

ACTION: Write a short email to the City Council email@example.com and Cari Hornbein firstname.lastname@example.org .
Subject: Green Cove Park
I ask the City of Olympia to deny the meeting between the City and Ms. Burgess due to a serious conflict of interest. In the Shared Legislative Agenda and as members of the Chamber of Commerce and the Thurston Economic Development Council, the City and Ms. Burgess are partners and co-counsels.
If the meeting is not denied, at the very least a verbatim transcript is necessary for agency records. Shutting the public out of the meeting is unlawful prior restraint to the public’s first amendment rights. The City’s SEPA official is subject to full disclosure per SEPA regulations.
For all these reasons, I respectfully request the City deny this meeting, or at the very least, record it.

Restore The Rules Of The Endangered Species Act
Sierra Club is asking people to call their House Reps immediately about US HB 4348, the PAW and FIN Conservation Act of 2019 which would restore all the rules of the Endangered Species Act that have been destroyed by the Dept of the Interior. Derek Kilmer is the only WA Representative of the 46 sponsors. All our WA Reps should get on board for such an important bill for all the animals, marine life, insects, etc. going extinct. Please spread the word and get people calling WA Reps.
PAW and FIN Conservation Act of 2019 Protect America's Wildlife and Fish In Need of Conservation Act of 2019 This bill nullifies the 2019 rules relating to the listing of endangered or threatened species and the designation of critical habitats. Among other things, the restored rules automatically give threatened species the same protections as endangered species; revise requirements governing when an agency must consult with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or the National Marine Fisheries Service about endangered species, threatened species, or their habitats; prohibit economic assessments from being considered in listing decisions; and revise the criteria used for designating critical habitats for the species.
ACTION: Call Denny Heck 360-459-8514 and ask him to get on board and co-sponsor HB4348 to restore the Endangered Species Act, and to give protection back to all the creatures.
Tell Congresswoman Pelosi Thanks and Go Hard!

Stop The Brutality By Turkey and Saudi Arabia
Thank Senator Patty Murray for her speech Oct. 17 highlighting the importance of a thorough impeachment inquiry by the House into the actions of President Trump and his associates.
Besides Trump’s obvious corruption his incompetence is seen with his impulsive abandonment of our Kurdish allies in Syria. In response, the House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution condemning this pullout, but Rand Paul blocked a similar bill in the Senate. Still there are measures our senators can take; ask Senators Murray and Cantwell to support the Graham Van Hollen bill, S.2644 to impose sanctions on Turkey, and the Menendez’s bill, S.398 - Saudi Arabia Accountability and Yemen Act of 2019 which suspends arms sales to Saudi Arabia and imposes sanctions on those responsible for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi
ACTION: Call Senator Patty Murray (253)572-3636 and Senator Maria Cantwell (253)572-2281
Ask them to support S.2644 and S.398 to discourage the continued brutality by Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
