Save Our Democracy
Impeachment: The Time To Act is Now!
This week Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller made clear to the American people that it is up to Congress to complete the investigation of the President. “If we had had confidence that the President clearly had not committed a crime, we would have said so.”
We know that impeachment is a risky business and that the stakes are high; but inaction is also risky. The White House is preventing any fact-finding while claiming “case closed.” Meanwhile, the country’s focus is on the Democrats’ struggle with what to do, rather than the criminal actions of the President. It is time to act now. When you pick up a rattlesnake, you take that action with authority and purpose, otherwise you get bit. The longer the Democrats wait, the longer that becomes the story.
Here is the message we want our Members of Congress to hear:
ACTION: Call our 3 Members of Congress
“My name is __________ and I am a member of Olympia Indivisible. I am calling today because I feel strongly that it is time to ACT NOW to begin an Impeachment Inquiry. The longer Democrats wait, the longer that becomes the story. I want the inquiry to be done quickly, publicly and fairly. If possible, this could be done by legal counsel for the House Judiciary Committee to avoid political grandstanding. Once the American people have the facts, the House can then decide if impeachment or censure is warranted. Please tell (Congressman/Senator) ___________ that I am urging him/her to take a public stand on beginning an Impeachment Inquiry now before it is too late.
AoCC Voter Empowerment Project for June 2019!
Our friends at the Americans of Conscience Checklist have created a three-week list of actions almost exclusively for protecting our right to vote in preparation for the 2020 election. Every American should be able to cast a ballot easily and securely. When laws take ballots away from citizens, it weakens our democracy. When states use vulnerable voting systems, it weakens our democracy. There is a real risk that the current president may refuse to honor the outcome of the next election. This is unacceptable in a democracy.
Go to Empower all citizens to vote for the list! (Not all actions apply to Washington state residents/voters.)
Not OK: US Sailors Violate Regulation By Wearing Trump Patches
When President Trump delivered a Memorial Day speech to the crew of the amphibious assault ship Wasp in Tokyo Bay on Tuesday, some of the nearly 1,000 sailors and Marines aboard were wearing more than patriotism on their sleeves. At least a few service members wore round patches emblazoned with a likeness of Mr. Trump and the words “Make Aircrew Great Again” — a play on his campaign slogan — on their flight suits.
Images of the patches went viral, and the Navy soon found itself with a hornet’s nest on its hands. “They’re inappropriate & against regulation,” tweeted Mark Hertling, a retired three-star Army general.
The rules are very clear. According to the Guidance on Political Activity and DoD Support: “Per longstanding DoD policy, active duty personnel may not engage in partisan political activities and all military personnel should avoid the inference that their political activities imply or appear to imply DoD sponsorship, approval, or endorsement of a political candidate, campaign, or cause.”
This is completely unacceptable behavior. There is concern voiced through the media that military brass are afraid of the wrath of Trump if these sailors are disciplined, but this is exactly what must happen. Military personnel take a pledge to the Constitution, not the president. This is not a monarchy and we are in grave danger if our military begin to act as if it were.
ACTION: Call or email our MoCs and insist that Congress demand that those who violated these regulations be held to account, that there are severe consequences and that the adherence to these regulations is amplified to all military personnel.

State & County Actions
A Washington state lawmaker just quit to lobby for Amazon. Most states wouldn’t allow that.
Guy Palombo, D Maltby recently resigned from the Washington State Legislature to take a lobbyist position with Amazon four days later. In Washington this is legal. Read about it here: A WA lawmaker just quit to lobby for Amazon. Most states wouldn’t allow that.
It might be legal, but it should not be. If we want to change that in the 2019 legislative session, it is now time to get that in front of our state legislators.
ACTION: Look up your WA State legislators here and then write them http://leg.wa.gov. You can email them right from that web page.
Then, email Governor Inslee right here: https://www.governor.wa.gov/contact/contact/send-gov-inslee-e-message

I wish to bring to your attention the article below about Guy Palombo, D Maltby, and his recent resignation from the State Congress to take a lobbyist position with Amazon.
This is an outrageous abuse of the public trust and is yet another example of the influence of corporate money in politics. As the article reports, 2/3rds of states have passed legislation to define a "cooling off period" to address this kind of deal making between politicians and corporate entities.
I bring this to your attention so that you will introduce and see through to passing a bill next session to enact such legislation here in Washington. I am a member of Olympia Indivisible and wish you to know that one of our committees is well focused on ending corruption in politics and at the State Level in particular.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Protect Our Salish Sea/ Olympic Peninsula Environment
We’ve run this twice before but comments end June 12, so get on it! Stop a plan by the US Navy to begin treetop high training missions over the area from the Hood Canal to the ocean over some of the most sensitive and significant areas in our state. These training runs will disrupt all living things in a huge area of the Salish sea, the Olympic Mountains and Park and the ocean. This threatens the Orca and their food sources too. Conservation Statement, Navy Statement
ACTION: Submit a substantive public comment to the Navy until 6/12/19.
Use This Comment Form
Script: Form your script from the talking points and fact sheet. Include ‘I am opposed to a plan by the US Navy to begin treetop high training missions over the area from the Hood Canal to the ocean over some of the most sensitive and significant areas in Washington State. ‘
Talking Points , Fact Sheet
Idaho and Nevada training areas were designed for warfare training, the Olympic Peninsula was not.
There is no reason the Navy cannot continue electronic warfare training in Idaho and Nevada as they have done for decades.
