Do You Think Guns Should Be Allowed at Rallies at Our Capitol?
Are you ready to stop the use of guns for intimidation at public demonstrations and in our State Capitol? Two courageous state lawmakers from Federal Way have filed a bill to do just that. It will face fierce opposition from the gun lobby and right-wing extremists, so your support is crucial!
You can read the bill here: SB 5038
Action: Tell our state lawmakers to do everything they can to support this bill by emailing the following message:
Script: My name is__________. I'm a constituent from [CITY] reaching out to urge support for SB5038 which would make our Capitol and public demonstrations much safer. Open carry in such places is meant to intimidate and to suppress protest, which works against a free and open society. Please do all you can to ensure the strongest version of SB5038 possible makes its way to the Governor's desk.
Environmental Impact of West Bay Development
Do we want to allow luxury apartments on the site of a legacy toxic industrial site?
There is a proposed high density housing project directly on the shoreline of Budd Inlet, a 303(d) listed waterbody, and on the site of a legacy toxic industrial site.
The City of Olympia issued its SEPA determination of non-significance (DNS) for the project in November, meaning an environmental impact statement (EIS) would not be required.
Action: Send an email to the Olympia City Council.
Subject: OCEP Appeal
Script: I support OlyEcosystem’s (OCEP) appeal of the West Bay Yards
OCEP rightfully and lawfully seeks to replace the proposed Development Agreement with a public SEPA scoping meeting for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), initiating a thorough environmental analysis of this project.
