Something has to HappenPresident Trump’s incitement of mob violence desecrated our nation’s Capitol, killed five people, and threatened the lives of Congress and public servants. His betrayal must not be met with silence or inaction. He must resign this week, or face impeachment and a Senate trial. You can read more about the House Democrat’s plans here: Clyburn says House Democrats will vote this week to impeach Trump but may wait to send articles to Senate We have spent days watching these horrific events. Take 5 minutes, right now, to stand up to this shameful abuse of the Presidency. Action: Call each of our members of congress to let them hear your voice on Monday! Script: My name is _________ . I am calling as a member of Olympia Indivisible. President Donald Trump incited the mob violence that desecrated our nation’s Capitol last week. He also corruptly tried to interfere in the Georgia election. He must be held accountable. I ask that (Senator Murray, Senator Cantwell, Congresswoman Strickland) act today to demand his resignation and move to impeach this week. Use this link to call now! OI webpage Our Representatives Pass the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan (TCMP)Learn more about the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan: adoption, adaptation and possible implementation. We need more people to support the TCMP by attending County and City zoom meetings. If you are interested in offering support or testimony please email: lynn@thurstonclimateaction.org. Action: Send email letters to the Olympia City Council, the Tumwater City Council, the Lacey City Council, and the Board of County Commissioners asking them to adopt the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan.
Script: I am asking Thurston County and the cities of Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater to adopt the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan and the Climate Emergency Declaration. Climate change is already affecting our communities. Impacts like hotter summers, wildfire smoke, and flooding endanger our homes and affect public health and local business. [Name & Address] Congress Must Investigate the Role of Law Enforcement in the Attempted Coup and Strengthen Protections Against Domestic Terrorists As the events of January 6 come into clearer view, it is becoming apparent that some law enforcement officers enabled or participated in the attempted coup. It is becoming equally apparent that as a nation, we remain unprepared to confront white supremacists and fascists, because we still don’t take domestic terrorism seriously.
Our progressive agenda is at risk as long as these anti-democratic forces are allowed to sow chaos and violence and as long as some members of the law enforcement community abet, or worse, enable their actions. Action: Tell our MOCs that you expect Congress to act now to quell this elemental threat to our nation. We must tell them that this is an urgent issue, along with impeachment and along with beginning to repair the damage that four years of Trump have caused. Contact information for our MOCs (Senators Murray and Cantwell and Representative Strickland) is on the handy OI webpage Our Representatives that lists our federal, state and local government officials. Script: My name is ___________ and I am a member of Olympia Indivisible. As I watched the attempted coup by pro-Trump forces on January 6, I was both frightened and angered. Angered because our nation still does not take domestic terrorism by white supremacists seriously, while we still routinely overreact to peaceful protests by blacks and others. I am frightened because the insurrectionists nearly succeeded, and frightened for your safety and for the safety of other public servants. I am angered and frightened to learn that some elements of law enforcement clearly aided and abetted these crimes. Congress must make it one of their highest priorities, along with impeaching Trump, confirming Biden’s cabinet members, and repairing the damage after four years of Trump, to investigate two things. One is the role that some elements in law enforcement played in the insurrection. The other is the nature of these domestic terrorists, and in response to their findings, Congress must strengthen the definition of and penalties for domestic terrorism. I am glad to know that you and your staff are safe and unharmed, I appreciate your collective courage in facing up to Trump’s mob and continuing to do your jobs to keep democracy functioning. Thank you for your service! Comments are closed.
