Thank Our MOCs for Standing Up to Trump
Last week, the Senate acquitted President Trump of high crimes and misdemeanors on Article I: Abuse of Power (52-48) and Article II: Obstruction of Congress (53-47)., as expected. Our MoCs all stood against Trump as we asked them to do. We lost this battle, but the fight carries on.
ACTION: Call our MoCs and tell them thanks for their efforts on this and to hold their spirits high and battle on.

Election 2020: The Rebels against the Empire
The impeachment process is over; it ended as we all knew it would, and even still we feel loss and dejection. We can’t let that defeat us, so let’s focus on some positives from last week:
“Senators who shirk their constitutional duties are cowards who disgrace their oaths of office and betray the Constitution. Our troops risk their lives for this country; these senators won’t even risk some unpleasantness. I want nothing to do with a party led by the deluded and the dishonest. I fervently hope our democracy survives this debacle. I fervently hope the Republican Party does not.” Max Boot Feb 1, 2020
“It is a reminder that Collins and the other craven Republicans must be held accountable in November, if we are to preserve any semblance of separation of powers and restraint on the executive branch.” Jennifer Rubin Feb 5, 2020
What is the OI strategy for 2020? It’s described on our website, in a new section “2020 It’s up to US: All of US!”. If you couldn’t attend the recent kick-off meeting at St. Johns, you can read all about it on the OI website, and learn more about it from the weekly Call to Action. We will be highlighting different aspects of the OI strategy each week, because our highest priority is winning 2020 elections.
We showed what the Invisible movement can do with our success in the 2018 elections, let’s do it again in 2020. We're stoked, organized, and ready to take back our democracy!
ACTION: This week our featured Action is Donate to OI. Contribute to our Arizona and Michigan strategy, which includes sending members to both states to register voters and canvas. That costs money. Many of our OI members have joined a team, but many members work, etc. and simply cannot. You can still make a difference - just go to https://www.olympiaindivisible.org/donate.html and make a donation, earmarked for the Arizona and/or Michigan campaigns. Make a onetime donation or an ongoing monthly donation – do what you can afford. It makes a difference.
Letters/Postcards for Progress Team!
We are hosting a series of letter-writing parties to get out the general election vote in key swing states. Letters written now will be mailed at specific dates to targeted voters in areas more likely to vote Democratic.
The next party is Feb. 10 from 6:30 - 8:30. Limit of 20 15 people.
Please RSVP to email@example.com to get the address. Each letter costs about 65 cents for materials & stamp. If you can, please donate for the letters you write which averages about 20 per hour but please come even if you aren’t able to donate. We need writers!
