Quote of the Week: “We’ve heard very little, basically crickets, from Republicans in the United States Congress about what the president has said about hanging members of Congress.” — Senator Mark Kelly Get Out on the Streets: Photo by zaya odeesho on Unsplash Want the scoop on upcoming rallies, marches, and related events? Visit OI’s Rallies, Marches, Town Halls and Boycotts webpage! Federal Actions: Support Senator Kelly’s Heroism Image Source: MC2 Eddie Harrison via Wikimedia Commons Background:
Last weekend, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona and five other Democratic lawmakers released a video reminding our troops that the Uniform Code of Military Justice requires them to defy illegal orders, including orders that violate our Constitution—such as deploying National Guard troops in our cities and attacking civilian boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific.. Donald Trump, furious, denounced the video as “seditious behavior, punishable BY DEATH,” and threatened the six, demanding “HANG THEM.” He directed the Pentagon to investigate Senator Kelly, a decorated retired Navy captain. The investigation could result in court martial. The FBI is now questioning all six members. All have received death threats. The dozens of veterans serving in Congress must speak out. A handful of Democrats, including our Senator Patty Murray, have made statements, as have House Minority Leader Hakim Jeffries and a handful of Republicans. Thirteen senators have asked the DOJ to declassify its legal opinions on the case. But more members of Congress need to show strong support for Senator Kelly. Action: Contact your Members of Congress (MOCs)
Script: It is ridiculous that Trump is threatening Senator Mark Kelly for standing for the Constitution and military law. Please contact the DOJ in support of Senator Blumenthal’s request to declassify the Office of Legal Counsel’s opinions on military strikes overseas.
Script: Please join Minority Leader Jeffries’ statements supporting Senator Kelly’s support of the Constitution and military law. I urge you to request other members of the House Armed Services Committee to defend our troops’ obligation under the Uniform Code of Military Justice to defy unlawful orders. Indivisible National ActionsBoycott Amazon,Target, and Home Depot on Cyber Monday While the White House cuts deals that leave working people holding the bag, corporations like Target, Amazon, and Home Depot are still raking in profits from policies that hurt our families, our neighbors, and our democracy. So on Cyber Monday, let’s show the billionaire owners of these companies that there is a cost to caving in.
WA State ActionsBe a 2026 WA Legislative RockstarImage Source: Nils Huenerfuerst on Unsplash The 2026 Washington Legislative session is just around the corner. During the 90-day "short session" which runs January 12 to March 12, the state's supplemental budget will be decided by competing priorities, limited resources, and the need for careful planning. Legislation will be proposed that could significantly improve housing justice, health equity, childhood education, transportation infrastructure, voting rights, and more. Blue trifecta states like ours have unique opportunities to resist the slide into fascism by enacting state legislation, budgets, and policies that protect and strengthen democracy, civil rights, and freedoms. That’s where you come in, and here's how to get started! Action 1: Complete the 2026 WILA Legislative Priorities survey. WILA is Indivisible Legislative Action, a statewide Indivisible volunteer group that tracks bills during the legislative session. They produce the Take Action Network (TAN) Calls to Action that enable Washington Indivisible members to lobby effectively for progressive legislation. Completing this survey will help WILA understand how to focus their efforts. We’ll share the results with you. Action 2: If you have not already done so, sign up for a Zoom training to create an account on Take Action Network (TAN). Local ActionsBlow the Whistle on ICE!Image Source: Art by Teresa Magaña / Pilsen Arts & Community House IG Activists across the country are making whistles with immigrant rights hotline numbers embossed on them. Whistling draws a crowd and attention—two things ICE doesn’t like. Along with the whistles come zines in English and Spanish detailing immigrants’ rights and resources. If you want to help put together whistle kits with lanyards and info zines, and make friends with other activists, check out Oly(mpia) Whistles, a Signal group (Signal is a free messaging app—similar to WhatsApp, but secure). Work parties are taking place almost every weekend in downtown Olympia. Action 1: Get a whistle (or make one, if you have a 3D printer—details at WA Whistles). Carry it. If you see ICE, blow your whistle. If you hear a whistle, either get to safety or follow the sound, form a crowd, and stay loud. Call the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network hotline at the number embossed on your whistle, (844) 724-3737. Action 2: Print out copies of the zines, fold, and distribute them. Join Starbucks Workers’ Informational PicketStarbucks baristas have launched the Red Cup Rebellion—a growing wave of unfair labor practice strikes—because Starbucks keeps refusing to offer serious proposals on wages, hours, staffing, or resolution of unfair labor practice charges. Baristas’ three basic demands are:
That’s it. Nothing extravagant—just dignity at work. Action 1: Join the SBWU Informational Picket Line, Thursday, December 4, 9:30 - 11:00am, Starbucks Store (standalone), 340 Cleveland Ave SE, Tumwater Action 2: Get coffee somewhere else. We have more locally-owned coffee shops in our area than we can list here—you could get coffee at a different place every day for two weeks without spending a dime at Starbucks. Learn about Flock Cameras in OlympiaImage Source: Bruxton via Wikimedia Commons The Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) company Flock Safety is building a nationwide mass-surveillance infrastructure. Flock Safety sells their cloud-connected cameras to police departments and private customers across the nation, pulls the license plate readings they collect into their own servers, and allows police to do nationwide searches of the resulting database. While there are no comprehensive data on the proliferation of Flock Safety systems in the state of Washington, a June 19, 2025 report by The Urbanist suggests that the systems are used by at least six counties, three Tribal governments, and eighty cities, including Olympia, where the Olympia Police Department installed fifteen such cameras surrounding the Westside Capital Mall area and near I-5 entrances on the city’s east end in 2024, using a $100,000 grant from the Washington Department of Commerce. You can see where these cameras were installed by visiting deflock.me On October 21, the University of Washington’s Center for Human Rights published a study about the use of Flock LPRs in Washington, concluding that concerns about privacy and the systems’ possible use for civil immigration enforcement or to criminalize access to reproductive healthcare are well founded. On November 25, Olympia Indivisible’s Steering Committee voted unanimously for OI to sign onto a letter from Olympia area organizations, drafted by the grassroots organization Deflock Olympia. The letter calls on the City Council of Olympia to immediately order the shutdown and removal of the fifteen ALPR cameras contracted between Olympia Police Department and Flock Safety. Actions:
