Weekly Call To Action - February 15, 2026

2/14/2026

Quote of the Week:

“Now, you remember we were told that MAGA was for working class Americans. Do you remember that? But this is a government of, by, and for the ultra rich. It is the wealthiest Cabinet ever. This is the Epstein class, ruling our country.” — Senator Jon Ossoff speaking at the Rally for Our Republic.

Indivisible National Actions

Tell Your Members of Congress: Stop the ICE Terror Machine
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents — armed, in tactical gear, their faces masked — have been terrorizing the people of Minneapolis-St. Paul in public and in their homes, detaining at least 4000, some of them small children, and shooting two citizens to death on the street. These are not their first victims, as residents of Portland and Los Angeles can attest.
Action: Use this link to contact your Members of Congress with a clear message: Protect our communities; stop ICE NOW.

Tell Your Senators: Vote NO on Voter Suppression
We called for action on the vote-suppressing SAVE bill last week, but it’s still alive in the Senate. Let’s stop this attack on our voting rights.
Action: Click here to keep the pressure on!

Legislative Actions:

Community Safety, Immigrant Justice, Voting Rights, Education
Use your constituent power to advocate for progress and justice in the 2026 Washington Legislative Session–it’s in full swing and your help is needed!

Action: Here is a link to the list of the latest TAN actions.

Federal Actions:

Tell Congress to Block Efforts to Undermine Rights of Naturalized Citizens

Two Senate bills threaten revocation of citizenship and possible deportation:

  • The Stop Citizenship Abuse and Misrepresentation Act, also called the SCAM Act, S. 3674/H.R. 7156 would subject people to de-naturalization if they commit fraud or an “aggravated felony” or are connected to a terrorist group. They would lose citizenship and could be deported. This bill has bypassed the committee process and could be voted on by the Senate at any time.
  • The Fraud Accountability Act, S. 3606/H.R. 6975 specifies that citizenship could be revoked and naturalized citizens  could be deported for fraud or any otherwise deportable offense. Action is pending in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

According to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), “Both bills threaten to make naturalized Americans second-class citizens, always in danger of expulsion and never secure in their status. Either proposal would open the door to blatant abuse of the criminal justice system to destabilize disfavored communities, and discriminate against members of racial and religious minority groups.”

Action 1: Contact Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell and urge them to oppose these bills.
  • Senator Patty Murray, 253-572-3636 or Contact Form
  • Senator Maria Cantwell, 253-572-2281 or Contact Form
  • Or email both them at once with democrocy.io

Action 2: contact your representative in the House of Representatives, recommending a “NO” vote on the companion bills.
  • Marilyn Strickland, CD 10, 202-225-9740 or Contact Form
  • Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, CD 3, 202-225-5916 or Contact Form

NALEO suggests these talking points:
  • Patriotic newcomers who naturalize make a permanent commitment to our nation, and citizenship has always been permanent too.
  • Americans only lose U.S. citizenship by deliberate renunciation or affiliation with another country.
  • A law that singles out naturalized citizens for expulsion under broad circumstances violates our core values, and makes us weaker by discouraging lawful permanent residents from naturalizing.
  • Denaturalization expansion bills are intrusive big government overreach, and could involve a waste of government resources, where there is no problem in the first place.
  • Naturalized citizens are a valued part of their neighborhoods and communities, earning and contributing billions in taxes and economic activity each year.

WA State Actions:

Support Starbucks Workers, Delete the App

Low pay, chaotic scheduling, understaffed stores, and illegal union busting. Baristas are still on strike against these unfair labor practices by Starbucks management―so it’s time to take this to the next level.

Stand with baristas who dare to demand better and turn things up a notch by targeting something Starbucks relies on every day: their Starbucks app.

Apps are how big companies keep the money flowing, and Starbucks is no exception. When customers stop using the app, it sends a message that the company can’t ignore.

Action:  Delete the Starbucks app from your phone, then fill out a short form to let Starbucks Workers United know you’ve done this.  SBU will follow up with a message you can share with friends and family asking them to join this Delete the App action!

Local Actions:

Unexpected Opportunity to Serve on a School Board

No election needed. This is an appointment.

Do you know someone who would like to serve as a School Board Director?

Background:
  • North Thurston Public Schools (NTPS) has a vacant school board position; Tim Bullus was elected last November but resigned before taking office.
  • The NTPS Board is now accepting applications. Through an interview process, they will choose someone to fill that position until the term expires in 2029, when an election will be held.
  • We therefore have an opportunity to encourage people with OI values to apply without first mounting a campaign.
  • Applicants must live in NTPS’s District #2 — click HERE for a map of the district.

This is important as school districts across the nation are being targeted with attacks on civil rights.
Action: Consider applying to serve as a School Board Director if you live in NTPS’s District 2; or encourage friends and relatives who live in District 2 and share OI values to apply.
The deadline for submission is 3:00 pm February 27.
